Directed by David Goulet Music by Harvey Schmidt Written and Lyrics by Tom Jones
Two neighboring fathers create an elaborate plot to deceive their children into falling in love. This case of parents knowing best is tested as Luisa and Matt find out about their parents’ deception. They escape their parents’ trickery to experience life on their own, but come full circle to a stronger and less dramatic love for each other. The World’s Longest Running Musical.

| Director’s Note
CELEBRATE THE SENSATION! During the course of The Fantasticks you will hear El Gallo say this as he set the scene for us. A scene that we have all experienced at least once in our lives: maybe not as romantic perhaps, but that first time alone with someone who makes our heart beat faster, or leap in our chest as we see that someone unexpectedly when we round the bend.
We are invited very early in the play to “Try to remember” various times in our lives: moments of joy and sorrow, the simple pleasures of life and the hurt that teaches us compassion and wisdom.
The Fantasticks is an allegory. It is romantic, silly, part melodrama, part commedia del arte. Sometimes it is profound in subtle ways. LISTEN, WATCH CAREFULLY. FIND YOURSELF IN IT!! I hope you will laugh, cry, and most of all, CELEBRATE SENSATIONS!!
