Message from the President:
DID YOU KNOW? Each year The Portland Players must maintain this building in order to bring you the wonderful productions that we produce. Although we try hard to cut costs, it still takes a great deal of revenue to pay for electricity, gas (for heat), paper products, office equipment, telephone, internet services, web site services, printing, postage, and so much more. In the past two seasons we have spent over $75,000, to maintain the building. So far this year we have spent $50,000! Our costs continue to go downwards due to the wonderful volunteers who shovel snow, clean the restrooms, run the box office, usher, etc. We certainly are trying hard to keep the costs down.
DID YOU KNOW? The average cost of producing a play (non-musical) is $11,566 – and we produce two a year. DID YOU KNOW? The average cost of producing a musical is $22,420 and we produce three every year. DID YOU KNOW? The Portland Players awards scholarships to students attending college to study the fine arts each year – up to $5,000 a year. DID YOU KNOW? The Portland Players needs to repair the roofs on this building and renovate the restrooms in the near future – items that we have known need to be done for years, but can not find the money to do so. HOW DO WE PAY FOR ALL OF THIS? I am so glad you asked! YOU are the reason that all of this can happen. By purchasing a membership to the theater (a bargain at $80.00 for adults, $75.00 for seniors). By purchasing tickets to our shows. By placing an ad in our program. By sending your child to one of our children's theater workshops. By purchasing tickets to one of our special events. By making a contribution to the Light Up the Stage. By having your company sponsor a show. By purchasing a raffle ticket or two or THREE. YOU are the answer. Only YOU can keep this theater running. Thank YOU for supporting The Portland Players. We love having YOU here! Nancy Lupien President, Board of Trustees
